Grounding The Human Body: Benefits Of Earthing
The Earth is essentially like a battery that contains a natural, subtle electrical charge, a kind of energy present in the ground, almost everything in the electrical world is connected to it, whether it is an electric power plant or your refrigerator. That’s what the term “grounded” means.
Being grounded also applies to people. When you are electrically grounded, you feel:
- Less tense
- Less stressed
Overall, you feel good. If you have pain, you have less of it, or maybe none at all, when grounded.
Earthing Products Reduce The Pain Of Modern Living
There has been a significant increase in recent years of people suffering from auto-immune diseases including;
- Multiple sclerosis
- Inflammatory bowel disorders
- Rheumatoid arthritis
While scientists and researchers don’t know the exact causes of this increase -often put down to people eating a more unnatural diet-many people are living in pain with constant stress, anxiety, depression, and fatigue. Doctors often can’t find the cause and resort to prescribing medications that produce side effects like fatigue, poor mood, gastrointestinal upset, and headaches.
While alternative therapies and lifestyle approaches such as yoga or meditation can help, they are limited in the use and for someone with chronic pain or fatigue yoga or other forms of exercise aren’t a viable option.
Earthing Products Prevent Feeling Ungrounded
We are bioelectrical beings on an electrical planet – our bodies operate electrically – with our cells transmitted multiple frequencies in order to work e.g. your heart, nervous system and muscles.
In modern society humans aren’t in constant contact with the earth, we don’t walk barefoot, we don’t sleep on the ground and surround ourselves with non-conductive materials for instance the soles of our shoes, blocking the earth’s natural energy.
The result is we’re ungrounded and many scientists believe that this could well be the reasoning behind the steep increase of auto-immune disease and other inflammatory conditions.
Grounding The Human Body: The Benefits Of Grounding
Grounding isn’t just the latest celebrity fad or a sales gimmick, in fact, you don’t need to spend a penny to feel the immense benefits of earthing. For over a decade teams of scientists and researchers have been exploring grounding and its benefits and their findings indicate that your body can be protected and helped—and that you feel better—when you electrically reconnect to the Earth. That is Grounding.
Earthing Sheets For Decreased Pain And Inflamation.
According to chopra.com
“Being grounded can help relieve inflammation. The following images show a 44-year-old woman with chronic back pain, as monitored by thermography, a commonly used imaging method in medicine.” Images taken during the study showed “a sharp reduction in inflammation after four nights of sleeping grounded, at which time the woman reported:
- 30 percent reduction in pain
- 70 percent reduction in pain interfering with sleep
- 30 percent reduction in morning stiffness and soreness
After four weeks, she reported:
- 80 percent reduction in pain
- No sleep interference
- 70 percent reduction in morning stiffness and soreness
By eight weeks, she said her pain was gone.”
Grounding Products For Reduced Stress Levels
The article continues “When grounded, the diurnal rhythm of the stress hormone, cortisol, begins to normalize. Cortisol is connected to your body’s stress response and helps control blood sugar levels, regulates metabolism, helps reduce inflammation, and assists with memory formulation. The figure below shows the results of a study that examined the effects of being grounded while sleeping over the course of eight weeks. In addition to a normalization of the cortisol rhythm, participants in this study also slept better and woke up feeling more refreshed.”
Grounding Mats For Improved Circulation
When you are grounded, your circulation improves, aiding in the delivery of oxygen and nutrients to the tissues in your body, including better blood flow to your face. The image below, taken with a laser contrast camera, shows significant facial blood flow improvement within a half-hour of grounding.
Grounding The Human Body – How To Ground Yourself
The easiest way (and it’s free!) is to get outside and go barefoot. Whether you’re sitting, standing or laying on grass, soil, sand or concrete even for just half an hour it’s the perfect way to fit earthing into your daily routine. Modern times means busy lives so you don’t want to have to fit in yet another thing to schedule.
If you don’t have time to get outdoors or the weather isn’t ideal there are now plenty of ways where you can practice earthing inside, with absolutely no change to your routine.
